1971

The Rockport Company was founded in Massachusetts, USA in 1971 by a father and son team, Saul and Bruce Katz. They hit the road selling shoes out of the back of their van and launched Rockport as the first company to use advanced materials and technologies in casual shoes.

1990

Rockport Vice President Tony Post runs 26.2 miles in the New York City Marathon wearing DresSports – proving the shoes’ remarkable shock-absorption and support.

1993

A team of climbers wearing Rockport Umbwe Trail performance boots summit Mt. Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest peak at 19,341 feet above sea level.

1994

From the legendary Whitbread Round the World Race, to the Volvo Ocean Race, Rockport’s advanced nautical footwear has equipped sailors to conquer the world’s most perilous oceans.

2009

Eight athletes compete in the NYC Marathon wearing the newly relaunched DresSports shoe that weighs less than the average running shoe.

2013

In 2015, The Rockport Company and Boston-based Drydock Footwear came together to form The Rockport Group, a standalone company home to an impressive selection of comfort brands, including Rockport, Cobb Hill, Aravon and Dunham. The Rockport Group combines Drydock and Rockport's collective vision, talent and commitment to innovation, dating back to Rockport's beginnings in 1971.
